Bluewood Ski & Snowboard Team

Athlete Financial Assistance & Scholarship Policy

Purpose

The Bluewood Ski & Snowboard Team believes financial circumstances should not prevent young athletes from participating in skiing and snowboarding. Our scholarship program provides need-based financial assistance to help families access our programs.

Eligibility

Financial assistance is available to eligible athletes participating in Alpine Ski Racing, Snowboarding, Blazers Learn to Race, and Blazers Free Ski.

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, athlete commitment, and available funding. Prior skiing or snowboarding experience or competitive results are not required.

Financial Assistance

Depending on available funds, scholarships may cover 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of program registration fees. Additional assistance for equipment or competition expenses may be considered when funding permits.

Application Process

Families must submit a confidential financial assistance application explaining their financial circumstances and the assistance requested. Applications should be submitted before the registration deadline whenever possible.

Review and Approval

Applications will be reviewed confidentially by a Board-authorized Scholarship Committee, with input from the Program Director as appropriate.

Awards will be based primarily on demonstrated financial need and available scholarship funds. Committee members must disclose conflicts of interest and refrain from reviewing affected applications.

Scholarship Expectations

Recipients are expected to participate regularly, follow team policies, and communicate with coaches regarding attendance or program concerns.

Scholarships will not be revoked based solely on athletic performance or competition results.

Confidentiality

All financial information and scholarship decisions will remain confidential and accessible only to authorized individuals involved in the review process.

Funding and Oversight

Scholarships are funded through donations, fundraising, sponsorships, grants, and other approved sources. Awards are subject to available funding and any applicable donor restrictions.

The Board of Directors will establish the annual scholarship budget and review this policy annually.
