BART GRANT PROGRAM

The program aims to identify and award financial grants to ski racers in the local area desiring to participate with the Bluewood Alpine Race Team.

Grant Policy:

Applicants must be members in good standing of BART. The BART Board of Directors shall decide the quantity and amounts for annual scholarships. Grant winners will be determined on merit and need. A non-biased third-party body shall make grant awards to three past BART members.

Applicants will supply the following items:

1. Completed application form.
2. Essay by the child explaining why they deserve a scholarship.
3. Essay from the parent(s) explaining the need for a scholarship.

Once awarded, scholarships will only cover tuition fees, paid directly by the team and only as they come due. There will be no cash disbursement of scholarships, except as reimbursement for expenses already paid by the family, and only after all fees due by the family are received.

Scholarship funds apply only to the expenses of the individual athlete receiving the award, and any funds not used by the end of the fiscal year (April 30) will be forfeited.

Write a One-page essay using standard guidelines (typed in 12-point Times font, double-spaced, one-inch margins) that:
(1) Provides a short biography of yourself, (2) Clearly states how this scholarship would benefit you, and (3) Demonstrates your passion for skiing and ski racing. Your essay will be scored on the above-stated criteria. This essay may be used in the fundraising and marketing efforts of BART to share the hard work, dedication, and love for ski racing that is illustrated therein.
